Gavrilov Posad District In Bloom 2007

The Municipal District of Gavrilov Posad in the Ivanovo Region of Central Russia, covers 95,000 hectares, and has a population of over 19,000.  The District, famous for its agricultural products and peat extraction, was established in 1929.  The main town of the District is Gavrilov Posad, an old Russian town sitting at the crossroad of ancient trade routes.  The town’s crest features heads of wheat and rye, reflecting its agricultural roots, and the famous Vladimir Heavy Horse bred in its stables during the times of Ivan the Terrible.

Gavrilov Posad is a lovely provincial town with a rich history, set in spectacular countryside.
