Rybinsk In Bloom 2009

The history of the Volga town of Rybinsk goes back many centuries.  The settlement was first mentioned in the manuscripts in 1503, and in 1777 Catherine II granted it the status of a town.

Rybinsk is one of those few cities of Russia which preserved not only individual architectural monuments but a large historical centre showing the charm of an ancient city, its own “facial expression”.

Modern Rybinsk is a typical Russian industrial centre with over 40 enterprises producing aircraft engines, diesel engines, ships, precision instruments, optics, electrical goods, printing and road-making machinery, etc.
