St. Petersburg needs no introduction.  It is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, with a population of 5 million.  The city is often referred to as “The Venice of the North”, a name that stresses the splendour of its architecture and historical monuments, four thousand of which have been listed by UNESCO.

Recently it has gained the title of “Russia’s Northern Capital” reflecting its place and importance in the life of the country.
