The ancient city of Vladimir, founded in the 10^th Century, is situated in the heart of Russia, 180 km to the north east of Moscow.  It is the capital of the Vladimir Region and has a population of 357,000 people.  Apart from being a major industrial centre, Vladimir is the first city of the Golden Ring of Russia, with its unique architectural buildings and monuments.  Once the capital of North East Russia, the city boasts a glorious history, and still keeps alive many ancient cultural traditions.
